YOUNGSTERS in Cheltenham have taken part in a world record breaking sign language event.
Pupils at four schools in the borough took part in a nationwide effort to break the record for the most people singing and signing at the same time.
Although the figures are still being verified, it is believed that around 135,000 people took part - smashing the previous record of 114,277, which was set last year.
Children and staff at Swell CofE Primary School, Benhall Infant School, Gloucester Road Primary School and Grangefield Primary School all worked hard to be ready for the event.
They practised singing and signing along to the video sign2sing for the challenge, which was organised by SignHealth, a healthcare charity for deaf people.
Swell CofE Primary School took part again this year after being involved in last year's success.
Key stage two teacher Lucy Lawrence said: "The whole school took part and we all loved it."
