CIRENCESTER Travelodge has undergone major works as part of a £223 million investment throughout the group.

The hotel, in Burford Road, has been refurbished in three weeks and cost £170,000.

The work is part of a company-wide brand investment in an attempt to further grow the business and strengthen the brand offering.

Cirencester Travelodge is one of the first out of 500 of the group's hotels to benefit.

Changes include new bedrooms with an upgraded king size bed, re-decorated walls and curtains, a larger desk, new carpet, artwork above the bed and en-suite bathrooms.

The refit will also see a re-design of the hotel chain's restaurants and public areas.

Rowdy Fabon, Cirencester Travelodge Hotel manager said: "We are very excited to have been selected as one of the first hotels across the Travelodge estate to benefit from this investment.

"The work was carried out with no disturbance to our day-to-day operation and the feedback we have received from customers has been outstanding.

"The demand for good quality branded budget accommodation in Cirencester is growing at great pace as the popularity of the Cotswold soars, and now that we have a new room design we are offering even greater value in the local marketplace."

The 43-room hotel opened in 2002. The £223 million investment includes 14 new Travelodge hotel openings this year and a £57 million refurbishment programme.

By the end of the year, the group plans to have refitted more than 50 per cent of all its rooms, with 5,000 completed by the end of this month.

Almost 90 per cent of Travelodge's estate will incorporate the new room design by autumn next year, meaning the makeover will see an average of more than 50 rooms refurbished every single day for the next 18 months.

One million man hours will go into the refit, along with 60,000 tins of paint and 30,000 new beds – enough to cover nine football pitches.

The refurbishment follows 12 months of extensive research with Travelodge customers.
