DISCIPLINE, respect and self-esteem are all being instilled in Gloucester's youngsters who have signed up to boxing classes.
Young people who have either been struggling at school or have had problems in their home life are being helped to channel their emotions through the power of boxing classes at Baker Street Amateur Boxing Club, in Hucclecote.
Founder Nigel Purcell, right, said: "It's good to get kids off the street, give them a bit of focus and discipline.
"We've seen youngsters that might be struggling at school and then after they get involved in boxing and the gym we hear that they are doing better at school.
"I've had parents say to me that ever since their boys have been in the gym their school life and home life has improved.
"Boxing is fantastic at developing fitness, it's fun as well, and it encourages discipline, respect and self-esteem."
The club now has more than 80 members aged from 10 and up.
