SURFERS have been riding the Severn Bore for years – but until now they have always relied on their own skill and the tide to move along.
Yesterday a team of surfers took to the river using a revolutionary new motorised board called the WaveJet.
The WaveJet is a jet-propelled surfboard which is powered by lithium batteries and is operated by a wrist controller – a seatooth – which turns jet propellers on and off.
David Thomas, CEO of WaveJet distributors Ongar Ltd, said the trial run had been "fantastic."
"They loved it – they were able to get on it really cleanly and quickly."
