BILLY Burns was thrilled to clinch the Junior World Championship – now he is hoping for a family double.
The young Gloucester fly-half starred as England Under-20s defeated South Africa to defend their title.
He took to the pitch just 24 hours before elder brother Freddie will pull on the same number 10 jersey 77 miles down the road against New Zealand in Hamilton.
Burns said: "That would be nice! It's a massive game which I'm really excited about. Hopefully Freddie can have a big game.
"I caught up with my Dad and Freddie made it up to watch as well. It was great to have them here, there were a few tears from me but they were very proud and chuffed for us.
"For us to come down here to New Zealand and win a World Cup is a massive achievement. The boys are just chuffed, we're over the moon.
"Everyone has worked so hard and to finally get the reward is incredible. We will enjoy tonight and the next couple of days."
It was touch and go throughout the Eden Park encounter with England leading just one-point at half-time, following Nathan Earle's late try, and hanging on at the death.
They defended for their lives before running down the clock with ruthless accuracy and Burns has hailed his teammates' clinical edge.
He said: "It was about the whole team, the forwards were outstanding, as were the backs, it was a real squad effort and to come away with the result is just unbelievable.
"The Boks are big physical guys and they really brought it to us and for us to take that in our stride and come out in the second half and really push on deserves a lot of credit.
"It was tight at the end and they really came at us but we showed a maturity beyond our years to get over the finish line – those last 20 minutes were absolutely nail-biting.
"All credit to the boys we deserved that, we've worked hard all campaign, it's been tough but to come through and win something at the end of it is really satisfying. I'm just overwhelmed at the moment."
