SEVERAL caravans which set up home on football pitches in Tuffley have finally moved on.
Gloucester City Council officials told travellers on the Tuffley Rovers pitches to move on or face legal action.
Councillor Chris Chatterton, former Gloucester mayor, said he saw five caravans and eight cars on a Tuffley Rovers pitch on Tuesday morning.
He reported the problem to the council and a process to get the travellers off the site started immediately.
Mr Chatterton said: "I came to speak to them on Thursday and they said they would move by the weekend. Some rubbish has been left and a few empty bottles, but generally they have not left it in a bad state. We have to look at securing this location to prevent this happening again."
