Recovering mum Nicole Sysum is desperately seeking a mystery policeman who came to her rescue as she was stranded at Bristol Road traffic lights and going into labour. A hero officer pulled up alongside the stationary car driven by Nicole's mum Christine Parsons as she was gushing blood and about to give birth. He flicked on the blue lights and escorted Nicole straight to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital where a crash team of nurses were waiting to whisk her into the delivery suite. Less than two hours later and Nicole, 20, was the proud mother of Logan James, her second child. Now Nicole wants to track down the police officer who came to her rescue to thank him for his quick thinking. "I had contractions at home but tried to stick it out as long as I could," she said. "My partner called my mum to take me to hospital. I went to change my trousers and noticed I was losing a lot of blood. It was worrying as I didn't know why. "I got in the car and my mum drove straight to hospital. As we approached Toys'R'Us I had a really strong contraction. The traffic lights were green, but mum didn't want to drive off as I was losing so much blood. We didn't know what to do." It was then the police car pulled up alongside to check why they had stopped. The un-named officer calmly told the pair to follow him to A&E as he activated the blue lights. Baby Logan was born at 11.15pm. Less than an hour later and the officer returned to check on mother and baby. "He got us through all the red lights," added Nicole. "When we got to A&E he ran in to get us a bed and tell the doctors what had happened. All I remember is that his name was Thomas. "The contractions were horrible. I lost so much blood, around 300ml. I had to stay in hospital for 24 hours to recover and was put on a drip. "It was quite traumatic as blood was still gushing out of me when they were taking me down the corridor in the hospital. It was all over the car, but the policeman was very calm and reassuring. "We were shocked that he came back to check on us. "Anything could have happened, if it wasn't for him we would have been stuck. I want to say a big thank you to him for getting me there safely."
