BUDGET cuts in the region of £3.4million are set to be made on Thursday by Gloucester City Council. The cuts are proposed to sweep right across the board, including for grants to voluntary and community organisations. Labour councillors, who will challenge some parts of the budget set out by the Conservative administration, took to the streets last week to consult shoppers on the cuts. They ran a stall in Eastgate Street to survey people as they walked by. Councillor Kate Haigh, leader of the Labour group, said: "People were very positive about the changes that we want to make. We have got some concerns about what is in the budget and we felt that we needed to ask the public about them." A meeting on Thursday night will decide the budget for the coming financial year.
