MARTYN Thomas admits he has a point to prove with his Gloucester contract set to expire at the end of the season. The Welsh full-back-wing was offered a one-year deal at the last minute ahead of the current campaign and is once again yet to be offered fresh terms. But he is determined to prove his worth as the Cherry and Whites begin their final run in, beginning with Saturday's Premiership clash with Newcastle Falcons. Thomas said: "There's no development yet. "I wouldn't say I'm playing for a contract, I play my game the same way every week whatever is happening – what will be will be is my motto at the moment. "I've had some game time recently on the wing which I enjoy, I've been happy with my performances and the coaches are pleased with them as well - I just have to keep pushing on. "There's a point to prove but with every game my confidence grows and if the coaches are happy I'm sure they will put something on the table. "If they don't, I will have to look elsewhere and that's the tough part of being a rugby player. But I'm not worrying about anything other than the weekend and getting my game right at the moment." Thomas is expected to start on the wing at Kingsholm tomorrow (3pm) and he is relishing the Cherry and Whites' return to action as they bid to climb the league table. A place in the top six appears increasingly unlikely, with 16-points now separating Gloucester and Sale Sharks. But it is just eight between them and London Wasps in seventh position, which could lead to a play-off for the final spot for the newly proposed European completion. And regardless of what the future holds for both himself and the club, Thomas insists Gloucester can go unbeaten in the remainder of their league campaign. He added: "We weren't at the races against Northampton but we need to put things right, Nigel has had his word that he wasn't happy, and we were way off it following our performances in weeks before that. "The message now is to win every game really, there's no doubt in any player in this squad, we think we can do it. It's a tough task but an exciting one. "Newcastle will be physical. Rumour has it they've had no time off and have been trained hard. "They will be coming down here to pick up points but for us it's about getting our game right, not overplaying and putting in a performance. "You feel refreshed coming into this last block of games. The boys are looking forward to putting a performance in against Newcastle. "It's a big week and we need to pick up maximum points."
